15,400km time for an update.
Took a weekend ride with friends to the Klein Karoo and Overberg, tried to take the most indirect route possible to the overnight spot in Swellendam, I would say that taking 5 hours we were somewhat successful

We only left Cape Town late afternoon so arrived after dark, this did however give me the opportunity to ride gravel in the dark, which confirmed that the stock Rally headlight is one of the best I have used, secondly I am faster in the dark

The next morning we headed for the Suurbraak to Gysmanshoek pass, over to Barrydale for lunch. My rear 606 is a little tired with nearly 10k km on it and that in combination with under-sprung rear shock caused the rear to struggle to maintain traction on the more uneven climbs, meaning I had to tap off to prevent the wheel skipping over the rougher parts.

After lunch we headed through Sanbona to Montague via the dirt roads south of Anysberg
We again arrived back in Swellendam after dark, but comparing consumption figures it was interesting to note the Rally used less by some margin when compared to the other bikes in the group - TTR250, Yamaha 600 and a Suzuki 650
The next day we headed back to CT via Malgas and the gravel roads of the Overberg.

The Rally didn't have any trouble running with the 2 600's and in some cases was actually faster.
Two weeks later and after fitting some fresh rubber (another 606 on the rear and this time a TKC on the front) I find myself riding part of the same route, but this time with a faster bunch.

I had no chance of keeping up with this

The XR650 and GS800 however were fair game.
Visiting a sticker we placed 2 weeks earlier at Ronnie's
