did you ever find out what was the problem with the scoot?

Not yet. Replaced the fuel pump and it ran for 2kms before dying again. Itís now at a bmw specialist

Tell me about it. This weekend I'll have owned it for 2 months and in that time it only ran properly for 2 days..... Already spent about 5k and I'm sure there is another hefty bill waiting. Not happy at all

Any chance it could be the switch that selects high and low power mode ? My other guesses will be faulty stator or bad ECU connection.

The good news is that I will have a well-sorted bike when you sell it to me!!

More seriously - I hope its something small and doesn't cost you too much - this should be a great bike and i am sure you will "re-love" it when its working 100%!!

Quote from: sidetrack on May 21, 2018, 08:53:42 am>To get one with a tank like that is a nice score, not a big fan of those things hanging off the rear seat / sub-frame

I am of a DIFFERENT opinion to you, Sidetrack, but it's great that we all differ!  :3some:
1. the REAR tank kind of 'balances out' the modest weight of the rear silencer... say 8kg versus 4- 5 kg...
2. it also keeps weight OFF that front wheel, leaving it lighter to lift over objects, (not that I could lift mine over a log, but one lives in hope!  )
3. the air-filter gets covered by the front tank, meaning tank removal to access it, whereas with the rear tank in place, can remove my (front) air filter in under 20 seconds (I have Dzeuss fasteners...)
4. I feel the balance of the bike is better with the rear tank, but have never RIDDEN a G450X with a full front tank, so that is just guess-work on my part.
5. I fabricated a SMALL, under-seat support that ties the two ends of the sub-frame together, triangulating the support.
So whilst NOT anti the front tank, I am a fan of the rear tank!  :thumleft:
Just my 5c 8L worth!  ;)

Tried the power setting in Nam which is basically a plug that bridges wiring. No joy. Stators also are an issue on them but that was also checked

Dwerg, do you mind if I jump onto this thread? I'm also new to the 450, cant wait to ride it. There is much info. out there covering oil used from fully synthetic to half sythetic 0w-40 too 10w -40.
What are the S.A dogs using in their 450?

I've been only been using Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10W-50. I change the oil every 10-15 hours and change oil filter (Hiflo Filtro HF611) every second oil change. Check your oil level before each ride. I found when running in the high power mode it would use a bit of oil and I'd top up with a squirt after every/other ride. In low power mode it does not seem to use much oil and the time for an oil change comes before any significant drop in oil level.

I've used the same Castrol in most of my singles/dirt bikes. Same spec but much cheaper than motorex etc

I got my bike back last week. Haven't had a chance to test it except for the 4 kays home from the bike shop. There was apparently water in the fuel so they just changed the fuel and the bike is running again. It might however be the coil on the injector that only shows the issue when the bike gets hot. Will have to take it on a proper ride to see, which is a little difficult when you're on a bike that you know might break down. Technician who finally looked at it confirmed that he worked on the bike before I owned it and it had the same issue. Not sure they send the bike back to me without anything done to it then  ???
