What an experience! Thank you to Honda Bikes & the Specialized Adventure Team & Instructors.

As Jesse has said (I am very glad to have met him as well as "Dipstick" from MP  :) ), we have met some fantastic people at Boot Camp, that together enjoyed this experience.

To comment on some things said above, consider that and to quote: "Adventure Biking is about so much more than just riding the bike" - Some very important words.

This is Quest Boot Camp, to in some ways, prepare you for The Actual Quest as well as test/educate yourself and obviously select.

If I were to say, one does soon realize that, as with much in life, the more you discover and come to know, the more you realize that there is so much more to learn and exactly how little you know..  :) .

Not only about the machine, but your environment, your team, the reactions to relevant circumstances and your willingness to explore those places (physical or psychological) with your team mates (together) and succeed at the task at hand.  It was great fun!  ;D (I would like to do it again)

Now, the machine, having been on a KLR for most of my adventure experience in SA, the DCT was a foreign / unknown concept to me. Let alone a computer.

But, let me say this, Passport, Funds and my kit in hand, I would go anywhere on this bike.

I don't know how to exactly/technically explain it..  but it just felt like, well "comfortable or in control" on the technical stuff/sand etc.  I can see it being the way forward along with possibly the other advances in life like electric etc. It was really that good. (I really now miss my adventure biking friends & bike  :'( ) this will need to be remedied.. (HKGK from my wife... I can see it)  >:D

I really hope to at some stage again see all my fellow Boot Camp mates. I kept trying to sell them the Eastern Cape adventure scene with the hope that they would come visit me.

Just want to also say thanks for all the oaks & ladies sending me messages over the last week. Julle maak my skaam voel (FB posts) maar ek waardeer julle my vriende. <3   :)

PS: I will try get some pictures etc up, once my work is back on track, responsibility calls, but good heavens I have some awesome new material and memories to (day) dream about.

Groete, Baksteen

Some pics of us at the challenge today . Swinging spanners like pros.

The guy on the left there called Pierre #24, just spoke to him as we have been mates forever. He had the time of his life apparently. Spent to many days to count surfing the west coast of UK back in the day. He said it certainly was not easy but a great experience. Glad you guys had fun the first part of the Bootcamp  :thumleft:
Harry Dunne: According to the map, we've only gone 4 inches.

Bootcamp was awesome   :thumleft:

Once I recover and get my “kombuispunte” on par I will let loose on some of my thoughts and experiences.

I have never met this amount of awesome guys and a girl in such a short time, let alone them all becoming lifelong friends I believe.

Nothing was mediocre. The highs were very high, the lows very low, the cold even had Rickus cold enough to sleep with a shirt, the auto box on the DCT so auto that made it unfair, the Hardy hard and the surprises super surprising (if you could see our faces at some times you would understand).

It was an honor, a very humbling experience but I went away a richer person  O0
