Grim invited Shark and HHHusky to come try out his little trials bikes, and what a lot of fun it turned out to be. Shark decided to bring his KDX along for comparison, and you just cannot believe how different these bikes are. The trials bikes are tiny, weigh about 60kg, have no seat, sofa-suspension, and a potent 250cc 2T motor  - the end result is a bike that can seemingly do the impossible in the hands of the competent. Here Grim the competent shows us how to go down

and up. Putta-putta, no mess no fuss.

Now let the enduro riders show you how it’s done – not. First Shark did a steep little climb

Lets just say things got a bit out-of-shape after this picture was taken, but HHHusky did not do much better – whoa boy

Then it was off to do some hill climbing, but on-route Shark first did some gardening

The man was not on top of his game, methinks something to do with some serious celebrations the night before >:D

After pottering around on some of the smaller hills to work on technique, we tackled the mini-Erzberg that had given Shark some trouble on the trials bike the week before. But the man now had his tool of choice, and although he and the KDX were both slightly sideways and somewhat separated at the top, he made it first time

Success, but the reason for Sharks gymnastics is clear, as the lip of the climb is littered with lurkers and holes, which only become apparent once you are pretty committed

Then it was Grim’s turn, and after a few test runs he made it look easy

Then it was HHHusky's turn. Now climbs are not my strong point (although there is fierce competition in this regard), and even on this beastie I managed to vaark it up a few times

And then the excuses start, but this thing is really really steep, with no traction, and some rocks, and …

The trials bike is however so forgiving, and even when you screw up there is no drama and leaps into the blue yonder – it is so light and low that you can generally come to a reasonably graceful stop. But finally even HHHusky made it to the top

Grim and Shark, thanks for a lovely ride, lets call it a draw for today and I think we must do it again.
