Yes we did meet at 5am or for Hilton and I ...04h50 hee hee
Four riders showed up with one calling in with a babalas.
We finally left at 05h15 after waiting for some riders who didn't make it.
We got onto the first unpaved section after about 10km and then had a bit of tar and gravel until just before Wellington.
The route took us past the Eskom wind generators.
Just before Riebeeck West the various maps indicated a road to Zonkwasdrift and other did not. I checked all my GPS maps and they did not cover the route at all. So we did a recce the rest of the way.
I found a farmer who pointed us in the right direction and we were on our way again.
Finally we passed the Zonkwasdrift farm and then the drift. Not much to write home about.
We then followed gravel roads to Gouda and then about 5km of tar. At our first chance we turned left onto the gravel again and detoured to Riebeeck Kasteel and then Malmsbury.
After Malmsbury we took the old Kalbaskraal road to Philadelphia and then...... when we stopped...... the bikes automatically routed for the Swartland Engen and Wimpy for brekkies and Wimpy coffee.
Total route 240km with 70 to 80% gravel.
Why did I not start riding LONG ago???
