Wanting to fit radiator fan to my DRZ
« on: September 29, 2011, 11:42:46 pm »
Have any of the Dogs fitted a radiator fan to a DRZ-E?

These come without one fitted... which puzzles me, especially as this bike can and often seems to be used in negotiating some rather slow type stuff. (Mine does at least!)
This then causes the engine temp to begin climbing towards the 90s (deg C).
I've set my high temp warning light to come on at 92 deg C - to give me ample time to do something about cooling her down a bit.

I'd like to fit a radiator fan... and have found some info on ThumperTalk. Only thing is... I'd like to see if I can get a fan locally (SA or EC) before having to order from the US.

Any tips... etc?

Buy a fan from Honda. Apparently they are cheap, and you can modify the bracket a bit if need be.

Can anyone confirm the Honda fan statement ? The fact that they are cheap?
Don't blame me for the name ....I was bullied into into it by J-Dog.....

The S came stock with one, many aftermarket tanks will not fit with a fan in place.

OK! So I got myself a fan from Milddog.

Had a quick look at the setup, and seeing as the fan I got from him is an original DRZ fan - (S model) - it'll fit nice n neatly. Will have to make up some small alu brackets to hold it to the radiator, and then have to sort out a switching method. Most likely I'll be using a handle-bar mounted switch, and have that deal with things via a relay.

Will post pics of the process and final product.

Looking forward to cooler days (for B'rakha) ahead!
