Modern tubes are made of butyl (spelling?) not rubber, this means patches will not stick to them, we gave up patching about 6 years ago as 99% used to come back to haunt us. Tyre weld does work on less than 3mm puctures, but best is new tube :(

Looks like too soft pressures to me, what pressures where you running,should be about 2.5 rear and 2.3 front for tar.
