do not deal with kawasaki, they will just replace the poorly designed original part. Doc klr can supply it for less than R1500, see if he has stock. he fitted mine recently

Firstly, Manufacturers dont make sprockets or chains, they fit 3rd party ones, so you just gotta find the cheapest brand. Call a bunch of local bike shops for a quote

just keep in mind that the Motech is in the way if you want to remove the carb. if thats something that you occasionally need to do

the rear subframe bolts always loosen themselves. tighten those often, if they break or come out, it wont be pretty. maybe just loctite them

I've read a few cases on the klr clan of an upper bearing seizing. those where on new shapes though

Would hate to ride that kinda terrain with a dual-sport bike. Rather spend a R15k on a cheap enduro bike for that kinda riding
