    3921km, 10 days, 1 man - a long and pointless adventure

Day 2:  Burning into Brisbane â?? 654km of pain and fun! Man oh man I had a great sleep.  10 hours of being totally zonked out.  I woke up in my heated room, couldnâ??t hear any rain.  Looked out the window, everything in Thangool was pretty wet from the dew but no rain.  The day was looking...

    3921km, 10 days, 1 man - a long and pointless adventure

It's been a looooooooong time since I've been on this fourm, mainly as I'd not been riding much so I felt I had nothing worthwhile to contribute!  I tried to post this in global report but for some reason I can't - so sorry now if this is in the wrong spot! Day 1:  Cold and wet and cold and wet...

    Riding a good line

Sounds like good advice - looking at where you want to end up is a great idea. Also be sure to select the correct gear so that you can get on the power with confidence - this might be a gear higher than you usuually do the turn in, to ensure you can manage the wheelbase of the bike through the...

    LOUD vs quiet

I prefer quiet, loud makes my ears hurt after a while. Also like quiet on race bike - allows you to hear when other people around you are getting on the gas, and stay ahead of them. Agree with the comment about liking a nice sound, not a loud noise. "Any noise annoys, but a noisy noise annoys...

One for the BMW scarver fans - if there are any!

Thanks guys! :) Will check out the cornering thread later tonight - a part of the course is actually all about lines to take in different situations - will throw in my 2c worth... I reckon that Scarver actually looks unhappy in those photos - like it's scared or something! Cheers, Leon

One for the BMW scarver fans - if there are any!

My other job besides national parks is a performance instructor for stay upright / BMW rider training Australia. I sometimes feel compelled to try and make the school bikes do things they aren't really supposed to... Suffice to say - trying to ride a BMW scarver fast is much like riding some...

Rebel Stofrot, Lost tail and Still Unfinished Business

Good ride, but nothing worse than that sinking feeling when you realise a bit has gone missing off the machine  Do you need to get original or can you save money by getting some kind of funky aftermarket slimline LED number? Leon

Jhb, Baviaans kloof & Die Hel... and back.

    Latest mapsource update

This is probably old new to you guys, but following my time offline all summer, I've been updating all my applications. Just updated mapsource to the newest version 6.12.2 - has better track and route editing, but particularly cool is the "view in Google Earth" button which automatically...

    Lower back support

I also reccomend the MX style kidney belt. Supports the back, imporves the posture. Also has the added benefit of holding the guts in to make one look a little more attractive to the ladies when off the bike!

Friend of mine coming to SA - anyone want to help out?

Hi all, Well my work trip to SA got smashed to bits thanks to the cyclone, but now one of my work colleagues and good friends is heading over there in June to do some work in SA and Namibia. I mentioned to them that I'd put a post on this site to see if anyone was interested in possibly...

    Loading a GS12 on a bakkie

I'll give a tip for getting it off again... Instead of tyring to use the front brake lever to slow down the pace of the bike, put it in gear and ease it down backwards using the clutch to control the speed. A few advantages doing it this way: 1 - It's easy to lock the front when you're...

    Monthly off-road run

Very very cool stuff. 8) 8) Whenever I see these ride reports and see so many adventure bikes in the one spot, it never ceases to amaze me. That kind of thing just never happens where I live, hardly any adventure riders at all. Sitting here reading through these reports and looking at these...

    Swazi Solitude

Fantastic stuff! :D I reckon there's nothing, NOTHING, better than a solo ride and camp out in the scrub. As a matter of fact - you've inspired me to get that new one man tent I've been looking at and get my arse out there in the bush again - thanks 8)
