Depends on the sort of oomph you're looking for. For more low-end torque, fit a 15 tooth front sprocket at the cost of top-end speed. For more top speed, fit a 17t front sprocket. There's no noticeable low-end loss of power, but you'll feel the difference on the highway with a +-7%-8% increase...

I can't remember at 120kph, but at 100 it was about 3800 (down from +-4000). I'll check and post when I get an opportunity to go on the highway.

I've just installed a 17-tooth front sprocket on my 650GS. It's a highly recommended mod for those who are thinking of doing it, especially if you're more of a roadie! There is no noticable reduction in low-end accelleration as these bikes pull like a train, but you can feel the difference...
