    2003 F650GS for sale

New house, new kid, lots of rennovations - the usual adventure riding killer. My bike is amazing and hasn't let me down. Average fuel consumption is +-24km per litre. Extras include: ABS, heated grips, Xenon lights, 12V charging socket, engine bars, hand protectors, fork gaters, centre...

    Fuel consumption on Dakar

18 - 20km/litre is not great!! I'm tall, heavy (110kg) and I like to accellerate from traffic. Worst consumption was about 21km/l, average in town about 23k/l. Most of the advice has been said (fuel filter, air filter, plugs). I'd also reset my computer (disconnect battery for half an hour and...

Where to have my 650gs serviced?? (Joburg)

I bought my bike with FSH 18 months ago then started servicing it myself. I pamper my bike a bit, but now that I'm looking to sell, but people appear nervous if they can't see that it was done by a "professional" with a stamp. Can anyone recommend a competent, reasonably priced place to have my...

    Wanted: F650GS Side Stand

A mate of mine busted his sidestand by driving into a rock. The stand is mostly ok, but the bracket holding the spring on the stand disappeared so he needs a new stand. BMW charge a small fortune for these so if anyone has one lying around, or knows where he can get a reasonably priced one...

    2001 or 2003 F650GS for sale

Bit of a history to the sale, so bear with me. I own a 2003 650GS which I brought over from England with me last year. I then convinced some non-biking mates to do a trip to Zim an Botswana. As a result, my mate (Rowan) bought a 2001 650GS with LOW mileage (15500km and 1 owner since new) last...

    Lesotho - Accommodation advice

Hi Dogs My cousin and I are heading to Lesotho from Johannesburg in 2 weeks. We've got 4 days to get to Sani Pass and then plan to ride back via Geluksberg and plan to camp on the 2nd and 3rd nights so will likely meander around Katse and Mohale dams and get some flyfishing in... The issue is...

    17 tooth sprocket

Right....1st tank used and the result on fuel consumption is....nothing. Nada. No noticeable difference whatsoever. This isn't surprising as the tank was used mainly in town where I never use top revs so to get the same accelleration, the bike stays in lower gears longer. I did do about...

How can I get a little bit more oomf out of her?

Depends on the sort of oomph you're looking for. For more low-end torque, fit a 15 tooth front sprocket at the cost of top-end speed. For more top speed, fit a 17t front sprocket. There's no noticeable low-end loss of power, but you'll feel the difference on the highway with a +-7%-8% increase...

    17 tooth sprocket

I can't remember at 120kph, but at 100 it was about 3800 (down from +-4000). I'll check and post when I get an opportunity to go on the highway.

    17 tooth sprocket

I've just installed a 17-tooth front sprocket on my 650GS. It's a highly recommended mod for those who are thinking of doing it, especially if you're more of a roadie! There is no noticable reduction in low-end accelleration as these bikes pull like a train, but you can feel the difference...

So my number came up yesterday

I'm glad you got managed to escape relatively unscathed GeeS. It could have been a helluva lot worse too if you weren't wearing proper riding gear. N1. :thumleft: One sees too many muppets belting along in traffic wearing T-shirt and jeans.

Wanted : Dakar Pannier Frames - DIY

I've got a set of hard-pannier rails for a F650gs lying about. They're in fair condition and come with the bolts - got an extra set with my panniers as my bike had them already. Reasonable offers accepted and I'll can post it...given our SA post system a face-face probably better.
