I spoke to honda in CPT and the wanted R1907.45 for the shaft with a 2-3 week wait for it to come from japan. So the prices your side seem a bit high... Ive ended up shelving the XR for now until I can afford to rebuild it, its just going to cost too much. So for now the piggy has been locked...

The bit that bothers me is boring out the barrel to 628 dosent leave very much barrel. Correct me if im wrong but the HRC 628 kit comes with a new barrel?

Going to go with the XR650R's front sprocket and add some loctite, should solve the prob.

Yeah well aware of the heat issue. Oil cooler was already in the pipeline. Its currently got a Wiseco 603 11:1 piston which was generating more than enough heat to warrant changing the oil every month/15 hours. So Oil cooler is high on the list of mods to do. Haha Nic :biggrin:

I dont think there are any more HRC 628 kits around, as far as i know they are pretty rare, and i wouldnt have the money for it :biggrin:. I have a 98 XR so should fit.

awesome, thanks Nic :) The engine is already out of the bike for its much needed rebuild, but will use it on the new counter shaft so there's no chance of the play causing it to wear down or at least slow the process. I am told the 650's sprocket is wider too so will be using one to spread...

Sounds like an interesting solution. May consider it to stop play once I get a new one then.

Hey guys Ive finally managed to save up a decent amount of cash to sort my XR's tendency to smoke like a 2-stroke  :biggrin: But one thing is bothering me. The counter shaft/output shaft splines are pretty worn down. Some tool who had the bike before i did decided just any front sprocket would...

Hey man Do you have the standard tank? I'm looking to motard my XR6 and it has a 23lt at the moment, its in pretty decent condition. Looking at my options for replacing it with an MX style tank at the moment. But the standard XR tank will work for me too.
