Nikwax is the bomb - you can actually waterproof a fleece with some of their products. Would get the one that you wash in rather than the spray on.

Sorry, I see what you mean. Some poles in a pole set could be straight, but to get the curve poles nearer the apex will be pre-bent. So yes, some pole sections could be straight. I have a single pole tent that can sleep 3 and weighs around 1.8 kg (useless in wind though) that has a huge arch...

I have never seen them not bent before. You must remember aluminium doesn't bend nearly as well as fiberglass. Although i am sure frame tents will have straight poles though.

If you HAVE to wash it you must use detergent for down sleeping bags as said before. Most manufacturers recommend gentle hand washing in a bath. You have to be careful of the internal baffles in the bag which are not as strong as the external shell fabric. So be careful when lifting when wet as...
