So in short after 120 days this is how it played out: BMW advised that the most cost effective way would be to buy a secondhand motor in put it in, they know a guy... I went for it, fix the problem and put the secondhand motor in, 25k for a motor with 40k on the clock and 8k in labor and other...

OomD, not sure, was driving in traffic on the way home so not high rpms(altough it has seen the limiter once or twice), checked the oil and it was ok, not to sure about high temps but i've never had issues before. ChrisL, thanks allot, will give them a call, any reason why you went for new?

Katana The goal is not to try and score a new rim, I am only asking them to replace the component that they broke that was broken before they worked on it. I will still have the same straitened outer rim and same spokes. If the motor dealer damaged your car rim while replacing a broken brake...

Thanks for the quick feedback. Looks like his mind is made up on the 1150, so he will be able to include some rider kit in the budget. Anything specific that needs to be checked on these bikes? Are there any major work that will to be done at some point?

Hi Have a friend who is looking at buying a bike with a < 90k budget. He is big, about 1.9m and between 150 - 160kg.  :o Bike will not need to carry a pillion but at some point he would like to go camping for a week or so with the bike.  :ricky: Will the 800 gs be fine or should he look at a...

Going on a tiger fishing trip  :) in June and some of the group wants to travel by bike to the lodge. Looking for a nice camping spot about halfway or 3/4 of the way there. We only have 2 days so no sand roads  :( Attaching a image of the route, any advice will be appreciated. 

Will you have to get the wheel balanced after this?
