A week or so ago my (2005) 1200GS started displaying a blank space where the "N" should be when I want to start in the morning. The first few times I could get it right by shifting up and down but yesterday (afternoon) it would not show neutral and eventually I just pulled the clutch and it started.
I have the habit of starting it (especially in the morning) while it is still on the stand - to warm up the engine - which is how I noticed it the first few times as it would die when disengaging neutral or becoming "confused" about being in neutral or not, and the side-stand being out.
Any idea what it could be?
