I am (not so) patiently waiting for my 640 Adventure project bike to be ready for collection, so in the mean time I bought an old school MX bike.

This is what I found in  the 'motorbike showroom'

They were putting a new piston and rings in, I came back the new day to collect my runner.

This is what it is supposed to look like:

So a quick teardown last night has got me this far:

A previous owner has kindly tried to repaint the original Honda Tahitian Red with a rattle can black. It will require a bit more elbow grease to get rid of that mess.

So far I haven't found anything too distressing. The left hand side radiator has a serious dent, and the original end can has also taken a beating. The white radiator shrouds are missing, and the front rim seems to be off a later model.

One thing I did find though is that a previous owner had also over torqued the bolt on the shock clevis, which locked it hard against the pro-link pivot. So any rear suspension travel was actually trying to bend the shock rod.

A Clymer owners manual is on the way, and will be ordering a full gasket kit shortly.

The carb and reed block are in good nick, so is the expansion pipe.

Should be a fun little bike when it is done. Please let me know if you have any parts sitting in your shed for the last 30 years
