Wanted 1983 Honda 500xl regulator

Hi guys
My brother bought the above motorcycle a while back. It was well looked after. It seems the regulator may have packed up. He says it’s 6v as opposed to 12v standard nowadays. Does anyone have a clue where we could find a replacement or switch over to a 12v system?
