KTM 990 Adventure
I have just bought a new 2011 KTM 990R Adventure and was very disappointed to find out that the suspension has less travel, less ground clearance and lower seat height than the 2009 and 2010 models.
What is also disappointing is that KTM failed to advertise this fact or notify their dealers and customers. Out of the 3 dealers that I spoke to, none of them actually knew about the change and insisted that it was exactly the same as the 2010 models. I only found out after my purchase and I could actually feel it when I rode off from the dealership which prompted me to investigate! I buy the R model specifically for the higher suspension, so I am pissed off to say the least! :xxbah: :xxbah:

Here are the differences as per the KTM owners manuals for the 2010 and 2011 models respectively;

2010 Ground clearance (unloaded) 316 mm
2011 Ground clearance (unloaded) 301mm

2010 Seat height 915 mm
2011 Seat height 905 mm

2010 Front suspension travel: 265 mm
2011 Front suspension travel: 245 mm

2010 Rear suspension travel: 265 mm.
2011 Rear suspension travel: 245 mm.

When I actually took a tape measure to the 2 bikes, I found that the front shocks are 32mm shorter, the rear spring 40mm shorter and both the centre and side stands are about 30mm shorter!

Why have KTM done this?? :scratch:
