So with all the new launches that took place this year I was wondering what engine will be the best in the long run a 4 cylinder or a 2 cylinder and why.

If I think for a moment the XR is a 1000 4 cylinder, the versys is a 1000 4 cylinder. then we have all the 1000 2 cylinders, the new African twin, the Ducati multistrada, the vstrom, the KTM 990(almost 1000)

What advantages does the twins offer over the 4 cylinders, I know the kawa does not make 160HP but it is a 4 cylinder. I took the XR for a test drive and it felt so much smoother than any of the twins I tested.

The only thing that will make me buy a twin is the fact that the torque is at lower revs than the 4's.

Is a twin engine a lot lighter than a 4 cylinder? If I look at the bikes weight it does not look like that.

Why do you prefer the twin above the 4? Please give me technical facts that will help me understand.
