I take a lawnmover type plastic (the red 5l ones) from time to time along with me, but the rubber that fits on the inside of the cap has now perished away with the effect that fuel spills out ever so slowly.  In fact, it spilled petrol from the start come to think about it now.

Any ideas as to how I can seal it?  I have had a look at the addis caps, but the thread on the tanks is not the same.  O yes, my cap is not flush on the inside, but has a small recess for the neck of the tank to "seal" in.
