Android intercom

Anyone tried out using 2 android phones as an intercom between a rider and a pillion or between riders?
Seems to be a few android apps that do this over bluetooth or wifi.

I suppose the headset might not be as good or comfortable as a proper solution, but this is free.

Also not sure what kind of range you would get...
