So the plan was simple, strap a tent to the bike and get out of the city for an overnighter. I got the bike ready by 10pm or so and decided to head out at 5am to meet up with Dirtwarp.
The Honda was new to me, it had 6 hours on the hour meter since I serviced it, after this ride it should have over 16 hours without a oil change. The horror ! Let's hope it lasts. I would have to blame Youtube if this thing seized while climbing some koppie in the middle of nowhere as it this the reason I doshed out some money to buy one ->

Some of the first dirt outside of Rayton, not very fun but it beats tar anyday
Off the main road things looked up, we eventually followed an old disused railway track
Then fast and open again as we crossed some farm tracks
Then some interesting shortcuts which Dirtwarp rode years ago with his XR400, I was sure we would run into fences. Luckily they were still non existant after all of these years, got to love Africa !
The next bit would take us straight across the mountain, we have never tried it before. Only Google earth showed us this track does lead to the promised land
It was great fun untill we ran into a locked gate damn ! We were just about to give up when a little girl came running with a handfull of keys, we could not believe our luck. She unlocked the gate and we were able to continue on our way. The path ahead lead around a small koppie and then zig zagged up the mountain
The climb was lots of fun and we had a great view of the green hillsides
Kicking the 'berg on the side of a ..... no that's too corny
This track continued for some 15 km's or so, we still had to get back onto the main dirt road on the other side and hoped for another fenceless exit
There is a bike in there somewhere
