Pack Dog
Did a ride from PE to Steytlerville and hooked up with some BMW boys, Rob, Frans and Michael. Had lunch and a couple of cold ones and I decided to head back to PE. Along the Cockscomb Rd, was cabling at 160km/h and then it happened, back wheel locked up solid! Nearly lost it after dragging the rear for 25 + metres and then pulled in the clutch. Not a soul in sight, no cellphone i awaited for nearly 2 hours and then heard the drone of bikes. It was the BM boys. Rob towed me till we reached the tar(30kms) and wanted to tow all the way back to PE, but I convinced him I would rather call my Woof to come fetch me in the van. Michael lent me his phone and help was on the way. They insisted to wait until my beloved arrived before loading the bike for me and heading off. What a great bunch of guys! CAUSE: Broken conrod! REPAIRS: New OEM crankshaft, counterbalance shaft, barrel, piston, rings, bearings, camchain gaskets, seals and o-rings. Remarkably, no damage to the head or engine casings! COST: R20000, and bike is as good as new. PS, Bike only had 9000km on the clock when this happened and I have had her since new. EXPLANATION: SHIT HAPPENS ! CONCLUSION: It does not matter what bike you ride, as long as you ride! :thumleft: to the BM Boys, Rob, Frans and Michael.
