Baviaans Watercrossings

I have only visited the kloof once and that was on four wheels.  This biking-bucketlist item has now come into the 2012 spotlight.  The one question that immediately comes to mind:  

Are the rivercrossings always passable on a bike?  If not, which months should one avoid?
