Bike Stand in the Bush?

If you do not have a centre stand how do you support the bike when removing a wheel when far from civilization?  I found a milk crate and propped it under the bash plate.  I was on my own but tilted the bike up on the side stand and pushed it under the engine with my foot.  I would be tempted to lie it on its side and the remove the wheel?  Any ideas?
