After waking up at sparrow to get to the block house on Saturday morning by 6:30 AM, I jumped onto my F800 ADV at 6ish full of anticipation of a fantastic ride to Katse Dam via every dirt road I could take. Well…it didn’t start so well cause as I was cruising at about 170kph on the R 59 and I met a guinea fowl who lost a bet with his mates to see who would be the best R 59 kamikaze pilot. I was in the fast lane and this fowl flew into my bike hitting me on the right front radiator cover just below my handlebar clipping my knee, luckily I had knee pads.

I turned back home quickly and patched my bike up with duct tape, I made it to the Block House at 7ish in time for a cuppa with the other delinquents and continued on our trip to Katse without any further incidents.
On my return to JHB on Sunday I contacted Northside BMW and explained my encounter with my kamikaze fowl and asked the lads if I could drop my bike off on Monday for quotes and it was due for a service as well. “No worries Rob” was the reply so expecting a long drawn out episode of parts availability as there was plenty broken plastics and a hefty bill involving insurance I was pleasantly surprised. I collected my bike yesterday afternoon completed with a 10 000km service completed for under 7k.
Steve, Ryan and team, thanks for the professional service I received from you guys!!!
