Against my better judgment I bought a bike in bits, anyway Ive been looking for a project for some time and wanted a old twin and so been looking at these old silverwings as a donor bike, license up to date just needs to be assembled after the owner stripped it to replace a water seal well that was the story anyway, will have to see what Im in for anyway I picked it up for a song and will prob end up buying another for the build anyway. the sweatener is this one has papers and license is up to date.
The 666.6 on the trip meter kinda sold it, mabe if I push it the clock will run backwards and it may just start assembling itself >
Im still deciding the route Im more into, Im not a big fan of cafe racers but may do something along those lines or may hard tail it and go for something with a sprung seat, desicions decisions...anyway my first task it to assemble the motor and get it sorted rwc and in my name then strip and chop it up. The barrels and pistons look fine so will just put new rings gas flow the head replace stem seals and guides if necessary and anything else that needs doing.
On reading up on them apparently the crank bearings are a weakness but Ive looked at some with over 100k on the counter so Ill just have to take my chances.
Looking at this lot Ill be in for some time between work so will plod on and see what evolves :-\
love this...
