Dakar mods/conversions

Hi guys, I came across this pic on the internet, I find some of the mods very interesting and would like to hear your thoughts. In particular I am interested in the front shock conversion as the Dakar is known for pap front shocks. Why the RC-51 silencer? Also, why the conversion to 18" at the back? What other mods/conversions can be done to the Dakar? I know some of you are staunch "Dakkie" fans and wouldn't want to change anything on your bike but I'm just interested what can be done.
