Deleting maps from my garmin

Hi you GPS boffins.

I would like to know how do I delete old maps from my Garmin GPS's (Nuvi 500 and Nuvi 200). I now have the 2012.3 on the gps and the 2013.1 on the data card. How the hell do I remove the old one from the unit itself?

Anyone who has had this problem?
