1985 DR600s. Kick start only. R20000
I bought this bike in May 2014 and worked very slowly in sorting out all the things listed below. I am putting it up for sale because I just don't get round to doing adventure rides. It will be replaced by an off road bike that I might use once a month for fun.
Serviced forks, new seals and oil

The top-end of the motor was opened and everything from the camshaft past the valves to the piston and rings down to the big end bearing end-play was found to be way within spec. As the valve stem seals were brittle on the exhaust side, I replaced them all with imported viton seals. The bike starts easily, hot or cold and I've calculated consumption over a 550km adventure trip to be 15,9km/l.
The bike has very good straight line stability on tar or gravel and it corners and handles so well in sand that I've even taken it through a few local MX sand tracks. The seat is really comfortable, but it is very high. The speedo is stuck on just under 79000km and I suspect that the previous owner could have ridden it to around the 100k km mark. However, this bike feels healthier and smoother than some low mileage bikes I've ridden.


If you read the specs further down, you will see it was a very well equipped bike in 1985 and I assure you it still performs outstandingly well today.
