A friend and I are planning a trip from Durban on the East Coast to the West Coast of SA (probably Port Nolloth) during the Easter school break. At this stage looks like the we will pick up the R56 from Richmond to Kokstad > Matatielle > as far as Middelburg. We are wanting to avoid highways as much as possible and will require accommodation. Anticipating 3 days to get there and 3 days back ( with a day or two thrown in for good measure). Has anyone done this that could share some ideas or advise on accommodation along the way, as well as sights to look out for and interesting places to visit along the way. This is not going to be a rush trip so we should be able to fit on some sight seeing. Port Nolloth is not the destination, the West coast is, so other places will be considered too. Would also like to use a different route on the way back for variety.
