Essential gear?

Hi ladies and gents,

I just bought a Beemer XCountry  ;D and want to do some day trips. What do I HAVE to have with me on a ride?

I donâ??t have much space so I just want to take what will get me out of trouble.

I am very new to this so please dont assume i know the basics.
