So I found an original exhaust for my XT500, but as can be expected from a 35 year old exhaust, rust has taken its toll on some parts, although not as bad as I was expecting it to be. Would like to stop the rust as much as possible, so thought that I will flush the inside and pain t the outside first with rust inhibitor, and then paint the outside with a good quality paint. Is it a good idea or what else can I do? Also, Where can I find the "fibre" washers that go between the exhaust and the heat shields? ???
