I have noticed that the steering of my 800 has become 'light' recently.  When slowing down for a traffic light for example it is difficult to keep it straight at low speed. There is no play or notch in the neck bearings and the handle bars moves smoothly from side to side.

On gravel it is even worse and I am al over the place but maybe that is just me having the jeeblies.

I have dropped the tripple clamps by about 3mm (in line with the notch in the forks) but this didn't help. The rear pre-load is also about about right for my weight - I can't increase it any more else the bike is too high for me.

Tire pressure are as prescribed and the Mitas E07 in front is good. I even changed that to an E10 for a gravel trip but that seems to make it worse.

I have seen a procedure where you can torque the neck bearings again but is seems that in most cases this is followed by failure of the bearings.

Any ideas?
