First bike

Hi

I am completely new to biking but I've been waiting to get started for quite a while.

What would you recommend for a first time DS bike on a budget? Take into account I am still a student.
I will do quite a lot of commuting and tar, but hopefully quite a lot of off road adventure too.

Any suggestions?
