From TB:
Cape Argus – Occupants of a minibus taxi who threw a motorbike out of the vehicle to slow down Metro police officers chasing them, have all been arrested.

"The motorcycle almost collided with the patrol car," Metro police spokesperson Nowellen Petersen said.

Police suspect the motorbike was stolen. Metro police have arrested five people, including two children, after the officers fired rubber bullets and forced the driver to stop.

Police noticed the minibus taxi ignoring a road sign in Sea Point on Saturday morning.

Petersen said the officers gave chase and just before arriving next to the vehicle, its occupants threw a motorbike out of the sliding door.
He said the suspects were taken to the Sea Point police station and charged with attempted murder, possession of a possible stolen motorcycle, reckless and negligent driving and resisting arrests.

Petersen said it is alleged that two of the suspects might be linked to other crimes involving possession of drugs and an unlicensed firearm, as well as housebreaking.

"The Metro police welcome the arrests, particularly in the light of the current trend according to which motorcycles are targeted.

"The arrests of the five suspects further shows that we, as enforcement agencies, cannot be too lenient when it comes to minor traffic offences, as in most cases they lead to more serious arrests," Petersen said.
