Gear Indicator

I've been wanting to fit a gear indicator to my sten but i'm a little concerned as i've found a GI 2001 which seems good on paper but you need to cut into the wiring of the speedo and rev counter.. This is somthing i would prefere not to do. Has anyone fitted a gear indicator to a sten or do you have some advice for me?
