 so this may be outa place here . . . but how dual can i be ?
My friend Koos invited me to a track day at Kyalami . . .
My bike has been at the bike shop for 18 days ! had the pipe opened up, and was waiting for a sprocket
which never arrived and had one machined.
Some anxieties here . . . how do i mix company with these R1's, Blades, GS1200's . . . (very carefully i found out!) . . . i will be slow, but HOW slow . . . i dont have medical insurance, but Koos says he will give me his first aid kit
Sunday early . . . feed my 3 dogs . . . rouse my 3 children . . . pick up bike from shop at 7am . . . ride to track and register.
I need to stay focused and not be intimidated . . . ignore those tyre warmers . . . the portable fans . . . and the attention my 'grasshoper' attracts
Koos arrives . . . doesnt give a damn . . . makes me feel better
First session . . .
make it through the first session . . . bring back all my body parts . . . exhilarating
some 'interesting' moments . . . Koos checks my tyres . . . 'Not bad for first time out, but didnt even scrape your pegs, you can lean more !'
almost a pic . . . then camera broke
Koos . . . "Remember why you are here, . . . to learn how to ride more safely' . . . and then he passes me on the outside of Sunset, pegs scraping, leaning at an impossible angle on his Triumph Tiger
So 6 sessions later, a tank of fuel and no chicken strips  and what have i learned . . .
- AMA-ZING    fun
- 20 times more confidence on my bike now . . .
- I am unresonably competitive
- Kids dont last the day at the track
- Cameras dont work so well after a long off-road ride
- i have a beeeutiful bike
