OK, I noticed some fluid on the garage floor underneath the bike and when checking it out this morning it seems to be coolant that is dripping from the weep hole at the bottom of the water pump. The likely culprits are stuffed seals.

From https://www.klr650.marknet.us/wpump.html: "If either of the seals on the water pump has failed, engine coolant or engine oil may be leaking from this hole. The usual indication of a failed waterpump seal is a few drops of coolant coming from the weep hole, especially noticeable just after riding the bike. The original coolant is green in color. Note that some riders have reported riding an additional thousand miles after the first leak before they replaced the seals. To be more conservative, if it’s leaking, it’s time to replace the seals."

According to the same source it is  a bit of a job replacing it. Are there any shortcuts around this? How far would you ride before fixing (was looking at a possible weekend trip before I noticed the problem). etc. etc. It also looks like a job best left in the hands of professionals. Any comments?
