Knee Braces with Hinges

Who uses them, what do you guys think of using them over normal ones(without hinges) better protection?

Having said that, I bought me a pair of Alpinestars  Carbon B2, have to say does feel like they offer better protection then normal pads but I am now struggling to grab bike with my legs now.

Does one get used to them? Coz right now feelings I am losing the little riding skills I have acquired.
