KTM 640 Adv. or GS650 Dakar ?

Hi - looking to buy a second small bike for off road riding and cant decide between these two. They are a similar year model and milage but the KTM is 15k more expensive. My heart says KTM but my head says beamer....both have low milage under 20k. I know the KTM is more offroad orientated but getting to the dirt can sometimes mean alot of tar..... and there is the matter of cost.....What I need to know is just how good the beamer is off road and how kak the KTM is on tar?

Any input would be appreciated.
