I am sure there are some other manufacturers that do the same.

Referring to the Iridium (laser/nano/plus/boost/add your's)

Perhaps someone has some input on why they would specify a spark plug with a service life of 80k- 100k MILES (it's only real benefit) and then bin it after 10k km's?

The cheaper alternative would make more 'sense' (used loosely) by only binning it after 1/4 of it's projected life - and half the price...

Also, why a resistor cap AND a resistor plug? Related perhaps?
Usually only one or the other is required.

This excludes all reasoning involving benefits which may result from sub-standard ignition systems etc..
There is plenty spark power available even on the plastics..
