I have been asked to take Ryder Hillcrests customers on offroad rides and this Sunday was the first.
It was a glorious day and when I arrived at Ryder at 06h50 and there was already 6 bikes waiting.
Mike ( The master) was on hand to check the bikes to make sure we where free from any defects that could hamper our fun.
There was 4 x 1200 Adv, 2 x 1200 GS’s, 4 x Gs 800’s, 1 x G650X, 1x Ktm 690 (wd 777), and 1 x 660 (wd Navi). 4 of the bikes had pillions as well. Nice group.
We left Ryder Hillcrest at 07h30 and popped in to the Hog to see Kobus and Marina off on their trip across Africa. Good luck to them…….. their 1200ADV was loaded…650kg’s all up weight……Phew.
I lead the guys and girls up to the Lion Park turnoff and had a quick stop and a few laps around Idube race way. We then dropped in to the Valley of a Thousand hills on some perfect dirt roads. Nothing too technical due to 50/50 tyres on a lot of bikes and the pillions. The route took us through two valleys up to Nagel Dam where we had a rest stop and some munchies.
After that I took the guy’s to ride on some granite next to the river which was very nice.
We then headed through the valleys to Inanda dam and came across a washed away causeway so we had to backtrack and came out in Botha’s Hill.
A good time was had by all, only two little off’s( no injuries) and no punctures.
We will be having an ‘ Intro to offroading with a pillion’ and some level 2 and three rides in the near future.
