This morning I survived -just- the Modderdam / 35th Ave intersection near CT International ,traffic lights out . Obviously incorrectly ???,I stopped when I got to the intersection ...thinking it should be a 4 way stop and was nearly taken out from behind on the left and right 
As there were vehicles coming from left , right and turning in front of me ....what the hell do you do . In the end I got right behind one of my friends who overtook me and just followed him over ...one eye closed :-\
For non Capetonians this is a major 3 or 4 lane , dual carriageway from both sides .
Is there any theory to handling this situation ?
Oh , obviously no blue lights anywhere .
