As Kilroy hinted for this thread to get started, I'll take the bate.
I also had malaria a few years ago and at some point in hospital I was ready to hand in my toolbox. Well I got through it and as a regular visiter to da bush I got this tip of mixing Liquid Tabbard and about 200 - 400ml of Dettol in a spraybottle. Shake it and spray yourself. You smell like sh*t but only those not having had malaria before will moan.
It works like a charm on the kids as well as it's easy to spray their whole body (apart from their faces) without missing some spots
