Pack Dog
Thought id post of brief ride report and some pictures of our trip up to Malawi in December.
Loaded up and ready to go,,, On the way back one of those straps came off , got stuck in the rear wheel and broke the indicator and numplate clean off as well as breaking my rear break line. Will never be doing that again
We only ended up leaving Joburg at 14:30 , so had to call it a day in Musina, We had a 5 or so hour sleep and hit the border post at 4 AM . The place was crazy busy , but we managed to just get in before the rush. Total time to cross was 2.5 hours but we heard of some other guys having a 8 hour + wait at the border around the same time.
We hadn't made a definite plan as to what distance we would cross in Zim because of the border uncertainty, but we had a whole day ahead of us and thought we should try make it all the ay up to Nyamapanda.
Just over the border , and the weather is looking GREAT!! Still bloody hot though.
Me Lady has a joke about this been her view for the whole trip,,, looks pretty good to me
Gotta watch out for them cows, goats , sheep, dogs, chickens , cyclists, donkeys etc etc
Total Garage just before Runde river. Some of the best home made pies ive ever had!!
One of the better looking vehicles that made the trip all the way up from JHB.
Fantastic quiet roads,, Masvingo to Harare
Feeling good,, bring on them miles!!
We made a 2 hour pitstop in Harare to visit a friend, get advice on accomadation near Nyamapanda and also to change money. We had brought a whole bunch of "other currency" with us and didn't think that it would be a public holiday in Zim , the day we needed to change money. So ended up changing about R10 000 worth into dollars at the harare central Taxi Rank. Turned out to be a good rate, and it was all REAL MONEY!!! Our friend told of a place called the Pumpkin Hotel somewhere between Motoko and Nyamapada. It was 16:00 and we needed to hit the road, to make it before nightfall.
Harare to Nyamapanda, Roadside stop near Motoko.
Getting dark, and still no Pumpkin... Have we missed it??
Eventually found the place, 20 km before the border . After just 10-15min of nearly night time driving.
Enjoying every minute of it.
