This problem, although not common, has been relatively well documented
The 990 now has 36 000km on it and very little has been for commuting.
Almost all km's has had a rear tailpack on and about 40% with panniers
About 7 000km with pillion as well
Although , I suspected this may just happen - it did catch me by surprise
I have discussed with AdventureMX and he has spoken to his aluminium welder. We will be developing a gusset to weld into place to strengthen this part of the subframe
For preventative maintenance - speak to AMX - especially if you are due on a long trip
I will post the results as soon as I am back from the welding shop in a day or so
