Navigator V help

I use Basecamp to plan a route and a track for some riding. I have the Navigator V.

Problem is that I plan a specific route on Basecamp and transfer to Navigator V. On Navigator I then select this route under "trip planner", but the GPS just never follows this route. It just gives me the shortest route home - what setting should I change to make the GPS follow the route I had planned?

Also, I thought let me rather use a track then, so I also sent the same route as a track to the Nav V. I can see the track on the device, but how do you select to follow this track? We ride a lot of offroad in SA, so tracks would be the way to go, but I don't know how to tell the GPS to follow the track?
