I was riding on a trip last week and 60km from Upington the bike just gave a huge shudder and lost power and made a kind of tapping noise in the engine and just before it died completely I grabbed the clutch and switched the bike off.
We did about 130km/h with revs just over the 5000rpm mark. Bike wasn't overheating and didn't give any warning whatsoever. I weigh 50kg and we had luggage on weighing about 20kg.
When I pulled over and got off the bike it had oil all over the motor, but no pipes came off. Bike is being fetched this week in Upington so I guess I will then find out what went wrong. just before the trip it went for a major service and I checked oil and everything before we left. bike ran smooth up to the point when she broke.
so my trip from Jhb to Port Nolloth went from "long way round" to "By any means" as I had to hire a car to at least enjoy my holiday hehe
Any ideas to why it could have broke? she has 12400km on the clock
