Overpants vs. Kevlar re-inforced jeans

Hi there,
I am commuting dayly over Sir Lowreys Pass and feel "exposed" with normal Kakie pants and riding jacket.
I am considering Kulcha overpants (the ones that zip on/off) or jeans as above.
Anybody with experience of both?
