paniers

Hi all. Have just purchased a 2008 1200 gs. First adventure type bike after superbike. It came with paniers and top box. They are the aluminium type. You pull the bar inside over and they extend in size. The gears seem to be stuck and in need of a service. Does anyone know of someone in CT that does this? Is it an expensive thing to have done?
